Newsletter 3/11/24
“I demonstrate technical and scientific understanding.”
From “Our Commitments”
I am late getting the newsletter out for last week and we may not have one for a couple weeks…Shane and I are heading to Budapest for a four-years-in-the-making river cruise up the Danube River to Prague. We were supposed to go six days before the country was locked down in 2020. Time to check this off the bucket list!
Historic Solar Eclipse April 8 will close our school for a day
The Board recommended that we close school on April 8 for the solar eclipse. With between 1 and 5 million visitors expected in Arkansas for the eclipse and given our location along the I-40 corridor, we are using April 8th as an “Alternate Mode of Instruction” day. Shane and I experienced being in the path of totality in Oregon for the 2017 eclipse where highways were gridlocked for up to 6 hours. While we hope this doesn't happen here, we are taking precautions in case our interstate becomes a parking lot with the potential for people being out of their cars while they wait. Teachers will prepare a special Eclipse packet including viewing glasses for all students.
Interview update
We will wrap up most of our teacher interviews this week. Wow! What an outstanding pool of professionals the Lord has sent us. We are excited to welcome new colleagues and leaders for our kids!
We are postponing new student interviews until April. Student interviews will continue through the Spring. It all takes time so help us assure your hopeful friends not to fret if they haven’t heard from us yet.
Garden is finally coming!
Thank you to Terry Carson (Nora and Cason’s grandpa) for helping us get our garden beds up and running this week! The classes will each be responsible for planting and maintaining a garden box. We look forward to updating you on their progress.
