Joshua Academy was founded in 2023 as a ministry of Jubilee Church, a non-denominational church in Van Buren, AR. Our school exists to teach children how to discover God’s story for their lives. Our mission is to prepare future-ready kids who demonstrate excellence in mind, body, and spirit, to boldly engage with the world as image bearers of Christ. Joshua Academy uses the Redemptive Education curriculum that is Biblical, Relational, Integral, and Experiential. We emphasize high levels of student engagement, outdoor-based pedagogy, and a mastery-based approach to teaching and learning in math and literacy that inspires children toward excellence in mind, body, and spirit.
Job Summary
We are seeking Christ-centered, innovative teacher candidates for FOUR PART-TIME TEACHING POSITIONS for the content areas and grades listed below, for the 2025-26 school year. Successful candidates will be able to articulate a commitment to Qualities of a Redemptive Educator (CORE VALUES), including: a Christ-Centered faith, a growth mindset, effective communication skills (written and spoken), creativity, servant leadership of children, and care for the whole child (mind, body, spirit), further described below.
Part-time Teachers report directly to the Head of School and are invited to participate in weekly teacher meetings, school events, and professional development prior to and throughout the school year, although this participation is optional.
Teaching Schedules (Sep 2 – May 29)
LIFE SKILLS position (K-8th): Mon 11:15-3:15, Tues 11:15-2:15
ART position (K-8th): Wed & Thurs 11:15-3:15
HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION position (K-8th): Wed & Fri 11:15-3:15
THEATER position (6-8th): Tues & Fri 2:15-3:15

Interviews will begin the week of June 16, 2025, but positions will remain open until filled.
Essential Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality learning experiences for Elementary and/or Middle School students in classes of 15-20 students each.
Incorporate Arkansas State Standards in areas for which there are standards
Theater and Art teachers will contribute to the major end-of-year production (in collaboration with music and Middle School choir teacher). This may require extra hours, paid at an hourly rate.
Maintain a positive classroom climate in accordance with our mission.
Implement effective classroom management strategies to keep students engaged and on-task.
Act as an ambassador for the school to the community, serve as an example of what it means to be an image-bearer of Christ at all times, and model the qualities of a Redemptive Educator.
Support colleagues through teamwork, collaboration, flexibility, and proactive communication.

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university awarded before August 15, 2025.
Experience instructing children.
Demonstrated success reflecting the Qualities of a Redemptive Educator.
An active member or regular attender of an evangelical Christian church.
Clear criminal background check (to be completed if selected for position).
Agreement with our Statement of Faith and Statement on Life, Marriage, Gender Identity and Human Sexuality.
Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise
Valid Arkansas Teaching License
Experience teaching Elementary or Middle School students in an educational setting.
Ability to teach in more than one needed content area.
Physical Work Requirements:
Frequent use of fine motor and gross motor skills with fingers, hands, and arms.
Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and climbing stairs.
Frequent teaching outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 lbs.
Professional appearance appropriate for school and community meetings and events.
Compensation
Positions are paid at a rate of $32/hr. One extra hour of pay is provided for each day taught.
Additional hours required for the end of year program (theater and art) will be paid at $32/hr.
These positions are not benefits eligible.
