School Safety
Joshua Academy takes the safety of your child incredibly seriously. Joshua Academy’s Emergency Operations Plan, Emergency Response Procedures and the school floor plans are on file with the Crawford County Emergency Manager. Additionally, the campus floor plans are on file with Crawford County 9-1-1 Dispatch so they are available to any first responder.
Armed Security
Joshua Academy’s Security Department is recognized by the Arkansas State Police and is authorized to employ state-certified, armed Commissioned School Security Officers (CSSOs). Joshua Academy currently employs two part-time CSSOs. Our CSSOs are both experienced firearms instructors, former military/police, and both are combat veterans. One of them is always onsite and on-duty during school hours.
Training & Drills
The teachers & staff regularly attend training and conduct emergency response drills led by the Security Department. Fire and Tornado drills are conducted monthly, while active shooter, lockdown, missing child, bomb threat and other drills are conducted quarterly. Staff certified in child and adult CPR/AED and seizure response are on site.
Security Assessment & Protocols
Our Standard Operating Procedures are complimentary to Law Enforcement response protocols. The Head of Security maintains a living, comprehensive physical safety and security assessment which is updated regularly. Security and safety infrastructure improvements and training for the school are updated based on the recommendations in the assessment.
Equipment & Infrastructure
Security fencing, security cameras, staff radios, electronic access-control doorlocks, advanced first aid/trauma kits, fire extinguishers and AEDs are located throughout the campus. Secure main entrances are in line with school safety best practices and designed to prevent unauthorized entry. The Security Department regularly reviews and upgrades our equipment and infrastructure based on national school safety standards and best practices.
