“I am creative and value my role as a
member of a team”
This week we engaged our creative brains in a STEM activity to design and build a car from recycled materials. Teams were comprised of students from each class and every student chose a job as either the team leader, planner, treasurer, engineer, painter, or driver. Teams had a budget and “purchased” materials from the store to build their car.
As with any project designed to help us grow, the purpose was more about the process than the product. While the kids were focused on building a car that went the furthest distance, the exercise was really more about learning to work creatively, productively and cooperatively as a team in a way that pleases God (all of these are commitments we’re working toward). We talked about this at morning Welcome on Wednesday and how the Holy Spirit is always prompting us to do and say the right thing - we just need to get better at listening to Him.
We all had a blast and learned that working on a team sometimes means that your idea doesn’t get incorporated into the final product but that everyone’s ideas have value, and every person, like the body of Christ, has a purpose and a role that is required for the team to function in a healthy way.
