“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6

The kids received New Testaments from The Gideons at the Crawford County Fair. They took them out after lunch and looked up verses they have been working on in class. (This is how we know it's working!)

The most important piece of advice I received at the beginning of 2024 when we decided to grow by 200% was, “protect your culture.” It’s great advice and we took it up a notch this week as we revisited how we do what we do at Joshua Academy. Orienting our behavior to keep the important thing, the important thing, means that we talk about and practice our BIG 4 every day: Stewardship, Obedience, Respect, and Integrity (SORI). Sounds a little like “SORRY”…which is also important when we miss the mark! Acknowledging our missteps and asking the Lord to change our hearts and minds (repentance), is something we practice too!

We took our show “on the road” so to speak Friday with our first all-school field trip to the Crawford County Fair! Dozens of parents and siblings accompanied the kids as we visited animals, played games, toured the Home Ec barn (and saw many Joshua Academy entries!), ate a picnic lunch, and took over the Mulberry Park for ice cream to finish up our day. It was a great day! One of my personal highlights was seeing kids take out their New Testaments gifted by The Gideons to find the verses they had been working on in class. Those who think kids need screens to stay quiet/engaged/entertained, need to see what we do. There is goodness in simplicity.

We also hosted our first Family Lunch this month! We enjoyed picnicking and finally being under our new porch cover at the Lower School. Our families are the BEST!
